Commissioning an artwork

Katy usually works from photographs and reference sketches. Dependant on subject matter, these can be provided by the client but must be crisp with good lighting. Alternatively, Katy may visit the location/sitter or if this is not possible, source a selection of images online. To ensure you’re happy with your commissioned artwork, communicate your vision as clearly as possible. Katy loves to make the work personal so please provide any key dates, information or stories behind the request. For example, if it’s a wedding gift Katy can include the colours of the wedding party and hide the wedding date within the painting.

It is important to consider size and to be aware of the additional measurements caused by a mount or frame. It is best to measure the wall you intend on hanging the work and communicate this with us. Katy will happily advise on the size and style suitable for your chosen subject matter and hanging space.

Pricing depends on the commissioned subject, complexity, size and materials used. For quotes, please use the contact page. We ask for 50% deposit before starting the work with the remaining 50% paid on collection or before delivery.

Commission slots fill up quickly and it is therefore important to communicate with us if there is a deadline for the requested work. Please allow for a minimum of 6 weeks working time.

Depending on the size, materials and distance, we aim to personally deliver commissioned works. If this is not possible, we use a reputable shipping company with all works tracked and insured. Collection is also an option from the Storm Art studio.
